TAMARIND CONCENTRATE
Tangy Tamarind Glazed Chicken Wings
These wings offer a perfect balance of sweet, sour, and spicy, creating a sticky, caramelized glaze that is irresistible.
Ingredients
1.5 lbs chicken wings
1 tbsp oil
1/2 cup Real Hanif's Tamarind Concentrate
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1-2 cloves minced garlic
1 tsp grated ginger
1/2 tsp chili flakes (or more for heat)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Prepare the Wings: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Pat the wings dry and season lightly with salt and pepper. Arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Bake: Bake for 30 minutes, or until the wings are mostly cooked and the skin is starting to crisp.
Make the Glaze: While the wings bake, whisk together the oil, tamarind concentrate, brown sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chili flakes in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring until the sugar is dissolved and the glaze has thickened slightly.
Glaze and Finish: Remove the wings from the oven. Brush them liberally with the tamarind glaze. Return them to the oven for another 5-10 minutes, or until the glaze is sticky and caramelized. Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds or chopped cilantro if desired.
